The Strategic Insights and Risk Team (SI&R) is part of CF’s Finance Group, and is an innovative corporate strategy group composed of 3 key areas:

  • Strategic Planning & Risk (SP&R) includes strategic plan development, monitoring and related insights, oversight for Corporate Responsibility (CR), and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
  • Strategic Initiatives (SI) includes development of portfolio and asset class strategies and tactics to support decision-making and enable strategic execution
  • Research & Insights (R&I) conducts proprietary research and analysis to support decision-making across domestic & international markets, leveraging customers and tenant insights, as well as internal and external demographic, traffic and sales data

Role impact:

Become part of a highly focused and “best in class” group, providing strategic advice to Cadillac Fairview’s senior management team regarding its industry leading portfolio of retail and office assets.  This role collaborates with various internal departments including, leasing, operations, research, and development to create and support execution of strategic initiatives and/or planning.





The Analyst, Strategic Planning will report to the Manager of Strategic Planning supporting research and driving analysis in support of strategic planning, corporate responsibility, and trends evaluation across all CF’s current and planned asset classes, current and future industry opportunities, and product or service offerings. This role will also support the research, analysis, and insights that facilitate the delivery of CF’s strategic plan, evolution of the Corporate Responsibility program, and other trends or benchmarking research (e.g. industry peer/best practice assessments, asset class reviews, business environment assessment, etc.) as they apply to evaluating CF business across asset classes, geographies, and innovation concepts


Relevant trends research may include proactive proposal and delivery as well as those requested by the executive team and senior management, including insights on growth opportunities, evolving asset type-specific trends, trends in corporate and social responsibility, new innovation concepts, and business model impacts from industry changes and new trends



What you will deliver:

  • Participate in research and analysis to satisfy project deliverables. This includes establishing work plans, monitoring progress against goals, and conducting status updates to adjust approaches as required.
  • Develop and manage financial models as they relate to scenario analysis and business model impacts. Provide reliable and timely interpretation that is synthesized for various levels of decision makers, including senior management and the executive
  • Prepare and present memoranda and presentations for senior management
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating discussions / brainstorming sessions with Cadillac Fairview’s leadership team to identify and align on strategic priorities
  • Periodically assist other departments including leasing, operations and development on special projects or other strategic analysis
  • Stay current on, and share as appropriate, new industry trends or disrupters in commercial real estate across all asset classes and geographies, including technology advances, changes impacting these industries and markets, and evolving corporate responsibility trends in the industry and among peers.

What you need to succeed:      

  • An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Real Estate
  • A minimum 2-4 years of work experience in a multi-sector real estate, private equity, consulting, or investment banking firm in an investment, valuation, internal consulting, strategy and/or asset management capacity
  • Analytical/quantitative/financial modeling skills in Microsoft Excel, Snowflake, Tableau;  effective presentation creation skills in PowerPoint; ARGUS Valuation DCF software skills considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization and graphical presentation of quantitative data
  • Possession of (or working towards) a CFA / MBA or other professional designation considered an asset
  • Experience in commercial real estate (across different assets, including retail, office, multifamily, mixed use) and/or retail industry experience is an asset
  • Experience working in Corporate Responsibility and Strategy Planning are essential
