Role Impact:

The Senior Project Manager will monitor, review and advise/recommend on overall process of construction projects on a frequent basis, to provide technical and management functions throughout the design, pre-construction, construction and post construction phases.  The Senior Project Manager will liaise with other internal departments, outside consultants and contractors and assist the Senior Director in leading cross functional teams on various aspects of construction projects to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will arbitrate, negotiate and advise internally and externally including with government agencies; establish new business partnerships and assist with the updating or revision of corporate policies as required in order to protect Cadillac Fairview’s contractual position and ensure finished project meets contracted standards.


What you will deliver:

  • Support the pre-development phase of the project by providing budgets, schedules and technical advice to the Senior Director, PM and Development managers
  • Reviews consultants’ reports, invoices, project documents, correspondence, development information and leases; recommends payments
  • Monitors scheduled events, project milestones and submission of required information
  • Schedules activities for completion of projects and works on a day-to-day basis to handle unexpected requests and deadlines
  • Interface with architect and consultants to develop and ensure completeness of design, drawings and specifications, depending on project stream and stage of development
  • Maintains strong working relationship with the internal and external project team
  • Works with the consultants to negotiate credits and/or extras for revised scope of work and to assist with implementing a value engineering process when necessary
  • Organizes meetings and meets with contractors/consultants to review scope of contract and impact of alternatives in reducing time and costs
  • Prepares pro-forma/budget/schedules
  • Assists with the selection of consultants/contractors
  • Prepare Monthly Project Status Reports
  • Supports Corporate Internal Audit Processes
  • Stays current with community issues and construction and related technologies
  • Is familiar with, understands and applies CF policies and procedures, federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, Environmental)


What your strengths are:

Thorough knowledge of one or more: high rise residential, office, hotel and retail real estate industries and related technologies

  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Sound financial and business acumen
  • Strong  written and verbal communications skills; effective at delivering difficult messages with tact and diplomacy
  • Able to build strong relationships will all levels of the organizations and external stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver strong presentations in a confident and credible manner
  • Possesses a proactive and perceptive outlook to achieve results

  • Solid working knowledge of the Building Code and Industry related technology


What you need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction/Project Management or Technical Diploma or Certificate in similar disciplines combined with relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience in one of the following areas; construction (both field and office), real estate development,  architecture or other engineering disciplines
  • Multifamily Residential and Mixed Use with a focus on high rise experience would be an asset
  • LEED and or PMP accreditation would be an asset


Working conditions:

  • Typical office and field environment
  • Regular site visits as required, including climbing ladders, exposed to noise, dust and/or external elements. Hard Hat and Safety boots required.
  • Frequent travel may be required
