Role impact:

Responsible for partnering with retail/office stakeholders to provide in-depth expertise, analysis and advisory for all retail/office finance and accounting practices, protocols and standards including financial results and projections. Provides support and advises internal and external stakeholders and partners. Supports strategic business and operating decisions at a property and/or project level

 

What you will deliver:

  • Partner with Operations, Leasing and Legal teams and other finance stakeholders in analyzing and assessing a broad range of decisions. Understanding operational results and provide insights on current and potential future issues
  • Conduct various financial analyses to identify the results impact, and advise Operations on assessing new operating models, capital decisions, prioritization of capital plans, additional revenue initiatives
  • Finance SME for retail/office teams
  • Compile and deliver financial and operating results for senior management including leading analysis and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain collaborative business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure alignment, understanding and compliance with policies and procedures related to finance and accounting
  • Provide finance analysis & advisory to office/retail business including operations and leasing teams
  • Recommend updates on policies and procedures as required 
  • Consolidate, analyze and issue monthly occupancy and leasing activity reports
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for retail/office assets and evaluate reported results against expected results
  • Lead the property operating and leasing budget process for properties by preparing supporting schedules, variance analysis and coordinating with other departments to provide senior management and co-owners with accurate forecasts for plan years
  • Review, verify and accurately provide expertise for analysis in valuations and investment due diligence support for building business cases
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement and optimization of finance processes and systems
  • Support the development and implementation of technology to support the business needs

What you need to succeed:      

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Commerce
  • CPA designation an asset
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in an Accounting or Finance position
  • 5+ years in Real Estate/Property Management
  • Computer literate and proficient in Excel, Word, Google suite, Yardi, Tableau
