Role Impact:

Lead the production of the external financial information and assist in the analysis and preparation of quarterly financial statements including consolidation procedures. Lead the research and documentation of complex transactions (i.e. acquisitions, dispositions and new accounting standards) and provide analysis to support accounting treatment.

 

What you will deliver:

  • Preparation and review of quarterly non-audited combined/consolidated financial statements for real estate operations of OTPPB and for the three main reporting entities ensuring that the financial statements are in accordance with IFRS and statutory requirements;
  • Preparation and review of annual audited combined/consolidated financial statements for real estate operations of OTPPB and for the three main ensuring that the financial statements are in accordance with GAAP and statutory requirements;
  • Preparation and review of annual unaudited legal entity financial statements required mainly for tax return purposes with statutory requirements;
  • Liaise with accounting teams at the asset class level in order to obtain and analyze subsidiary financial information and to resolve accounting issues when required;
  • Liaise with external auditors and co-ordinate and manage audit requests;
  • Lead the preparation of the annual pension financial statements including liaising with the pension auditors;
  • Leading the research and documentation of complex transactions (including acquisitions and dispositions) and provide analysis to support accounting treatment in accordance with corporate accounting policies and IFRS;
  • Leading the implementation of changes to company-wide financial accounting policies;
  • Leading the development and implementation of process and procedure improvement projects within Financial Reporting;
  • Recommend and test changes to financial reports ensuring they remain current and meaningful;
  • Manages and reviews the activities of direct reports to ensure the timely and accurate completion of reports in accordance with deadlines, provides regular evaluation of staff development needs with respect to technical requirements of their functions;
  • Manages external auditors through the audit process to ensure their requests are dealt with effectively and efficiently.

What you need to succeed:                                                             

  • University degree in Business combined with CPA, CA or equivalent accreditation;
  • 8-10 years accounting experience in Commercial Real Estate with relevant experience in the preparation of financial statements;
  • Fully literate with real estate accounting policies and procedures;
  • Expert knowledge of IFRS;
  • Exposure to accounting for foreign exchange & hedging;
  • Experience in external audit is required;
  • Fully computer literate, with extensive excel skills;
  • Knowledge of Workiva/Wdesk an asset;
  • Knowledge of Yardi Voyager an asset.
