Manage a large security team comprised of Security Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors, Control Centre Operators (Dispatchers), Access Control administrator (if applicable) and 70+ front-line Unionized security personnel.

Ensure all aspects of the Security program are assessed and updated regularly to remain current with Cadillac Fairview standards and industry best practice, and to continually achieve operational and fiscal efficiency.

Develop, implement and monitor operational procedures, processes and standards to facilitate ongoing and effective Security Management practice.

Provide ongoing support and counsel to clients on security-related issues.

Planning, leading and conducting investigations including interviewing, proper collection of evidence and presenting summaries of findings.

Assist with the implementation, upkeep, and testing of emergency response plans to ensure the property is prepared to deal with a wide range of potentially adverse incidents.

Contribution towards Property Action Plans and management of follow up actions to the property Security Risk Assessment (SRA) to ensure identified issues are addressed in an expedient and prioritized manner.

Quality assurance to ensure overall compliance with required standards.

Establish, maintain and leverage key external contacts (i.e. law enforcement) through regular interaction, provide and maintain a high level of security service at the property.

Management of security-related work projects, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and maximization of value.

Contribute towards future planning, maintenance, expansion, administration and integration of security-related systems and technology within the facility to ensure ongoing high standards, and cost-effective service.

Visible leadership by walking the property and engaging with employees, clients and tenants regularly.

Maintain positive and constructive relationships with key internal contacts by providing timely and accurate support as required to ensure open communication is fostered

Identify security incident trends and follow up to ensure appropriate security response.

Contribute to the setting of individual and team objectives within the Security Department and ensure these are achieved to a high and consistent standard.

Manage the activities of employees to ensure the timely and effective achievement of departmental goals and objectives, within prescribed policies, procedures and standard business practices.

Provide regular motivation and coaching to all staff to encourage ongoing professional development.

Administer the collective agreement and/or security contract and ensure Security Supervisors receive proper training and ongoing direction in this regard.

Contribute towards and administer Security Department operating and capital budgets and associated financial reporting. Optimize revenues and expenditures to demonstrate maximum value for the property.

Manage the administration of major service contracts for the Security Department and ensure contractor compliance to agreed-upon standards.

Prepare, review, distribute and file daily memoranda, staff records, correspondence and other pertinent communications

Active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JH&SC) and support of JH&S program to ensure occupational safety is prioritized and effectively practiced throughout all areas of property operations.

Assist the Joint Health and Safety Committee (where applicable) in conducting accident investigations.

Assist in conducting regular inspections and risk assessments in common areas and tenant leased premises

Respond to calls for service and security-related incidents as required, and conduct other operational duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Security & Life Safety.

Act on behalf of the Senior Manager, Security & Life Safety if requested in the event of absence or in emergency situations.

College Diploma/University Degree (or equivalent business management qualification) in Security/Life Safety, Emergency Management, or Criminology-related discipline is preferred

A minimum of 5 years working in a commercial real estate security environment, ideally in positions of increasing responsibility – or equivalent work experience

A minimum of 3-5 years of security management experience in a unionized setting

Professional designations such as APP, CPP, PSP, PCI is an asset.

Proven leadership ability and knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of all direct and indirect reports

Understanding of property management and property Security & Life Safety needs

Knowledge and understanding of working in a unionized environment and managing within Collective Agreement terms and conditions.

Proficient in basic accounting including the development and administration of capital and operational department budget

Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Office Suite, iOS and Android operating systems

Thorough knowledge of security technology (i.e. CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion) and other security-related systems, with knowledge of Lenel ACMS and Avigilon VMS preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations in the area of Security Management

Sound knowledge of industry techniques and emergent trends in Security Management

Experience in recruiting and interviewing security staff.

Sound knowledge of investigative techniques, including WEBINT and OSINT. Formal training in investigative interviewing is an asset.
