Role impact:

The role of the Controls & Process Analyst will support the Certification program for the Financial Systems and Controls team. The role will report directly to the Senior Manager, Financial Systems and Controls.  The successful candidate will work with all levels and departments throughout the organization including senior management and executives to ensure our policy and procedures are in compliance with our internal controls framework. The role will encompass documentation, testing and reporting of internal controls, as well as the maintenance of the risk management system.


What you will deliver:

  • Work with various Finance groups and the business on the development and maintenance of policy and procedures
  • Documentation and maintenance of policy, procedures, and process maps
  • Review and implement changes to policies and procedures
  • Provide support and recommend required controls for new system integrations
  • Develop test plans and testing templates of controls framework
  • Testing and reporting of key controls to ensure compliance is followed
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit team on testing and developing controls
  • Conduct and manage the quarterly testing, including sample selection and coordination among properties and head office departments
  • Lead testing of controls ensuring completion of tasks by assigned staff and providing feedback when required
  • Maintain Resolver GRC (Risk Management System) to ensure controls are up to date
  • Manage and facilitate senior management and executive sign-off of certification and disclosures
  • Provide analytics and consultative information to Operational Accounting & Financial Services
  • Review compliance of data governance on business intelligence information
  • Participate in the Data Governance requirement acting as a Data Analyst
  • Provide guidance and clarification on policies to groups such as property accountants, general managers, and Finance Services

What you need to succeed:     

  • University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Professional accounting designation such as CPA an asset
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting, reporting and assurance role with progressive responsibility
  • Experience with a risk management system (preferably Resolver)
  • Real Estate/Property Management environment a definite asset
  • Strong systems skills including good working knowledge of Yardi, ERP systems, Excel, Word
  • Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting
